Welcome to the California Air Resources Board’s Research Planning Idea and Proposal Submission Website!
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is accepting research ideas from the general public. Anyone can submit ideas at any time. Submitted ideas will be reviewed during the planning phase for the following fiscal year.
In order for your idea to be considered for the fiscal year 2018-2019 Annual Research Plan, ideas must be submitted by August 7, 2017, 5:00 pm, PST. Ideas submitted after this deadline will be considered for the next fiscal year.
Idea submissiions consist of a title and a brief (300 words or less) description of your research idea. Your description should very clearly articulate why this idea is relevant to CARB’s policies and/or programs. It should include a clearly stated research objective, very brief description of methods that could or would be employed, and what the final product or deliverable of the research would be. Information on time and funding needed to conduct the research is helpful but not required. Only ideas that clearly demonstrate policy relevance to CARB will be considered. You may wish to review CARB's Programs and the recently approved Annual Research Plan for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (PDF).
In order to submit an idea, you need to sign in or sign up for an account first.
